A sales tax exemption certificate can be used by businesses (or in some cases, individuals) who are making purchases that are exempt from the Alabama sales tax. You can download a PDF of the Alabama Fertilizer, Insecticide, Fungicide, and Seedlings Certificate of Exemption (Form ST-EXC-1) on this page. For other Alabama sales tax exemption certificates, go here.
Those Alabama residents who work in the agricultural industry should use this form for the purpose of purchasing agricultural goods that are considered exempt from sales tax. The goods this form exempts you from paying sales tax on include, but are not limited to: fertilizers, insecticides, fungicides, and seedlings. The items purchased must be used for agricultural purposes, and the purchaser must have a valid SCS farm number in order for exempt status to be granted.
